Things to do in Edinburgh

St Andrew’s Day weekend – 28 and 29 November 2009

This weekend is your chance to see a range of Scottish films at The Filmhouse for FREE. Mrs Brown and The Flying Scotsman are two of the films showing for FREE. Booking details can be found here.

As part of the finale of events for Scotland’s Homecoming, St Andrew Square Gardens will play host to a family festival on November 28 and 29 offering interactive, creative activities and entertainment throughout the weekend.

The big weekend “Do” has many family friendly events as well as a “visit for free” approach.

Edinburgh Castle, Linlithgow Palace, Craigmillar Castle and Dirleton Castle will all waive their admission fees from Saturday 28 November to Monday 30 November. Sounds like a good excuse to spend the weekend exploring great Scottish castles!

Beth’s Recommendation: St Andrew’s Square has become a magnet in the New Town as a place to relax and people watch. There is a small, modern cafe there as well, making it the most idyllic place to be when the sun is shining.
